Traditional performing arts festival “Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2021” is held online
Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) and NPO Ikimachi Club will broadcast “Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2021″ of a traditional performing arts festival set in the Kagurazaka area of Tokyo on YouTube channel on May 22 (Sat.) / 23 (Sun.), 2021.
This is a festival where you can easily enjoy traditional performing arts in Kagurazaka which has both the Edo atmosphere that still remains and the sophisticated atmosphere reminiscent of Paris.
From the programs unique to Kagurazaka like dances/songs/”Shamisen” by Geishas and “Shinnai-bushi” by a family of living national treasures residing in Kagurazaka to storytelling like “Koudan” and “Rokyoku”, traditional music played by “Shamisen” and “Shakuhachi”, as well as a variety of traditional Japanese performing arts such as “Daikagura” of “Shishimai” lion dance and acrobatics, and “Tezuma” Japanese magic,
you can watch the performances by the artists who are active on the front lines from young to veteran.
Because of the spread of COVID-19, we will only distribute it online, and broadcast it on the official YouTube channel from Kagurazaka this year.
The venue of broadcasting will be at Akagi jinja shrine of modern architecture, “Ozashiki” Japanese-style room at a historical cuisine, a small concert venue, and Yarai Noh Theater and Session House of dance theater for the first time.
The whole town of Kagurazaka will be the stage.
It is a festival that gives you a chance to experience the traditional Japanese culture, which even those who are new to the traditional performing arts can enjoy through online broadcasting.
